Description:
Carpobrotus glaucescens, commonly known as Sea Fig or Pigface, is a succulent plant native to coastal regions of Australia. It is well adapted to thrive in sandy or rocky coastal environments. This low-growing ground cover plant features fleshy, triangular leaves that have a bluish-green color and a waxy texture. The leaves are typically around 3-7cm long. Carpobrotus glaucescens produces vibrant, daisy-like flowers that can be pink, magenta, or purple in colour. The flowers bloom during spring and summer, adding a splash of color to coastal landscapes. Due to its drought tolerance and ability to withstand salt spray, Carpobrotus glaucescens is often used for erosion control, beach stabilization, and in seaside gardens. Grows to approx. 15-30cm H x 1-2m W.
